Rat Pack (episode)

The fifth-season episode where informants crawl out of the woodwork.

"Rat Pack" is the 54th episode of The Sopranos and the second of its fifth season. Its title comes from a meeting in which Jack Massarone presents Tony with a painting of the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., while the episode's three informants are all "rats".

Background

The Italian-studies professor Franco Ricci sums up the symbolism: in an episode where informants seem to crawl out of the woodwork like rats, Tony's ideal of Rat Pack camaraderie is reduced to a painting. In 2020 Nick Braccia called it the most noir and hard-boiled episode of the series.
