No such text appears in any of the Riftwar books, and it has no connection to the Valheru, the Tsurani invasion, or the magic system of Midkemia. The details commonly associated with it are entirely fabricated and have no basis in the published works.

The Book of Sorcery operates on the principle that magic is a science requiring rigorous understanding rather than innate talent alone. To wield its knowledge effectively, a sorcerer must possess a disciplined mind and years of foundational training; attempting to use high-level spells from the book without preparation often results in catastrophic failure or self-injury. The artifact does not grant power directly but accelerates learning by revealing the underlying mechanics of elemental manipulation.

Users can bypass traditional limitations on spell duration and potency, allowing for sustained magical output that would normally exhaust a mage quickly. However, this comes with the risk of mental strain, as the sheer volume of information can overwhelm unprepared minds. In the context of the war, the book's impact was strategic rather than tactical.
