Frodo's journey began when Gandalf revealed the One Ring was forged by Sauron. Fearing for the Shire, Frodo left with Sam Gamgee and cousins Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took. They faced Black Riders, were rescued by Tom Bombadil from Old Man Willow and a barrow-wight, and nearly lost Frodo at Weathertop where the Witch-king stabbed him with a Morgul blade. In Rivendell, Elrond healed him. The Council of Elrond formed a Fellowship of nine to aid Frodo, giving him Sting and a mithril coat. In Moria, an Orc spear hit his mail shirt; Gandalf fell fighting a Balrog. Galadriel gifted him an Elven cloak and Phial of Light in Lothlórien. At Parth Galen, Boromir tried to take the Ring, scattering the Fellowship. Frodo chose to continue alone but was joined by Sam.

In Their Own Story

In Ithilien, Gollum guided them after Frodo spared his life, though Faramir warned against the creature's treachery. At Minas Morgul, the Ring's pull became overwhelming as they climbed the Endless Stair into Mordor. Inside a tunnel, Gollum led them to Shelob, who stung Frodo unconscious. Believing him dead, Sam took the Ring but learned from Orcs that Frodo lived in their tower. He rescued his master, and they donned scavenged armor while Gollum trailed them. At Mount Doom's chasm, Frodo claimed the Ring for himself. Gollum attacked, biting off Frodo's finger to reclaim it, then fell into the Cracks of Doom with the Ring. Sauron's power ended as Great Eagles rescued Frodo and Sam from the erupting mountain.

Early Life and Adoption

Frodo was born to Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck, who died in a boating accident when he was twelve. He spent nine years living with his maternal family, the Brandybucks, at Brandy Hall. Fearing danger to the Shire, Frodo traveled to Rivendell with Sam, Merry, and Pippin. They were pursued by the Nine Nazgûl, saved by Tom Bombadil from Old Man Willow and a barrow-wight, and nearly caught at the Prancing Pony when Frodo put on the Ring there. At Weathertop, five Nazgûl attacked; the Witch-king stabbed Frodo with a Morgul blade. Elrond healed him in Rivendell.

The Journey Through Mordor

At Parth Galen, Boromir tried to take the Ring by force, breaking the Fellowship. Frodo and Sam continued alone, followed by Gollum. In Ithilien, Faramir captured them but released them after learning their quest, warning of Gollum's treachery. They passed Minas Morgul and climbed the Endless Stair into Mordor via a tunnel where Shelob lived. Gollum betrayed them to Shelob, who stung Frodo. Sam drove her off with Sting and the Phial but found Frodo taken by Orcs. He rescued Frodo from the tower.

Transformation and Departure

Dressed in Orc armor, they reached Mount Doom where Frodo claimed the Ring. Gollum bit his finger to reclaim it, then fell into the fire with the Ring, destroying Sauron's power. Frodo and Sam were rescued by Great Eagles as Mordor erupted. Back home, they defeated Saruman's agents in the Shire; Saruman was killed by Gríma Wormtongue after attempting to stab Frodo. Unable to settle, Frodo sailed to Valinor two years later with Bilbo.
