In Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf rises to power after Link is sealed away for seven years, transforming Hyrule into a place of fear shrouded in darkness. His malice is so great that in Breath of the Wild, it manifests as a serpentine cloud circling Hyrule Castle or as Calamity Ganon, a grotesque spider-like monster.
