Background
It is held once every four years. Most first-level polities of the Holy Empire have one vote, and a majority of the votes cast is needed for a candidate to be declared Emperor; a temporary truce is customary while it sits. If no one has won earlier, a closed ballot is held on the last day, but a candidate may force an early open vote, knowing that losing it bars them from the office in future.
