Professional career

Ricky Ledée entered professional baseball when the New York Yankees picked him in the 1990 draft's 16th round. He first played in the majors with the Yankees on June 14, 1998, getting into 42 games that year. During the 1998 World Series, he got on base during eight straight plate appearances, going 6-for-10 with three doubles and four RBIs. He also earned a ring with the Yankees when they won the 1999 World Series.

In 2000, while hitting .241 for New York, the Yankees sent him and two players to be named later to the Cleveland Indians for David Justice. Ledée played only 17 games for Cleveland before they dealt him to the Texas Rangers for David Segui. He finished 2000 with Texas and served as a bench player for them in 2001. He joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002.

On July 30, 2004, the Phillies traded Ledée and Alfredo Simón to the San Francisco Giants for Félix Rodríguez. Before the 2005 season, he inked a two-year, $2.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The New York Mets claimed him off waivers on August 8, 2006. On February 2, 2007, he signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics and got a spring training invite, but they let him go on March 25.

The Mets gave him another minor league deal on March 31. He was a starting outfielder for their Triple-A club, the New Orleans Zephyrs, when the Mets called him up on June 8. They designated him for assignment on July 8. Ledée retired from baseball on August 21, 2007.
