History
High Living centered on the Crombie family—Andy, Kate, and their children—who moved into a new apartment in a Glasgow high-rise block called Caulton Court in the first episode, "The Flitting." Exterior shots in the opening credits were filmed in Wyndford in Glasgow. A spin-off, A Place of Her Own, first broadcast on 21 October 1971, followed a newly widowed Kate Crombie and ran for 13 episodes; it was also shown on Grampian Television and on HTV during summer 1972. The first episode aired on 5 December 1968. Originally 15 minutes long and broadcast three times a week, the format changed in March 1969 to a 30-minute episode broadcast on Thursday, with about 200 episodes produced. The last episode aired on 19 August 1971 on Scottish Television. All filmed episodes are believed to have been wiped, destroyed, or lost, but two scripts survive: the first episode with a synopsis and character summary, and episode 137. Several other ITV companies broadcast the series: Grampian Television and Border Television aired all episodes from 1969 to 1971; HTV from 1969 until mid-1970; ATV and Southern Television from 6 January to July 1969 before being dropped.
