Rescue (British TV series)
Documentary series on RAF Sea King rescue operations.
Rescue is a 13-part documentary series created, directed and filmed by Paul Berriff. It follows the air-sea rescue work of Rescue 137, a Sea King helicopter of 202 Squadron, Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force, based at RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland. The series covers incidents from a sick child transport to the Piper Alpha oil platform disaster.

Episode 1, Budding Rose, first broadcast 7 January 1990, follows the team racing to rescue seven crew from the Peterhead fishing vessel Budding Rose, which was taking on water in gale conditions 100 miles east of Aberdeen. The episode is introduced by Rescue 137 pilot Flight Lieutenant John Prince. Episode 2, Baby Sam, broadcast 14 January 1990, covers a call to transport three-month premature baby Sam Harcus from Orkney to an Aberdeen hospital; during the flight the baby's heart stopped and winchman Bob Pountney kept him alive with heart massage. Episode 3, White Out, aired 21 January 1990, depicts operations in Scotland during blizzard conditions. Episode 4, Worse Things Happen at Sea, broadcast 28 January 1990, shows Rescue 137 scrambling to assist a man who fell 20 feet on the oil rig support ship Deepwater 2, and later a call to the fishing vessel Choice taking on water north of Fraserburgh. Episode 5, Winchman, first broadcast 4 February 1990, focuses on the life of a winchman aboard an RAF Sea King. Episode 6, Ditching, Ditching, Ditching, broadcast 11 February 1990, involves rescuing persons from a helicopter that crashed into the North Sea. Episode 7, Piper Alpha, aired 18 February 1990, covers the role of 202 Squadron in responding to the Piper Alpha tragedy; survivors evacuated by 202 Squadron teams were lifted via the MSV Tharos. Episode 8, Chox's Lecture, broadcast 25 February 1990, features winchman Paul "Chox" Barton giving advice for walkers, climbers and tourists. Episode 9, Water Falls, first broadcast 4 March 1990, shows water sports in a different light through events experienced by Rescue 137's crew. Episode 10, Missing, broadcast 11 March 1990, involves a search for a reported missing hill walker that is not what it seems, and later a rescue of men from the burning drilling rig Ocean Odyssey. Episode 11, Avalanche, aired 18 March 1990, depicts mountain rescue team with Hamish MacInnes and Rescue 137 searching for people trapped under snow in the Highlands.
