Plot

Angela Benton, a local GP in the fictional town of Woodmere, is stabbed to death in a playground. Detectives DS Nina Suresh, DC Bobby Day, DC Alec Wayfield, and DI Michael Niles investigate. They initially suspect mental patient Jacob Appley, under the care of Dr. Chris Crowley. An unidentified "Ghost Detective" sends the team clues. The detectives discover Angela's death may involve her ex-boyfriend Ruben Locana. Düsseldorf detective Linda Felber investigates Locana, who is found dead in his pool. A suspect flees to Germany, and Niles sends Bobby to assist Felber and her partner Walti Merian.
