Premise
Hector Con Carne, a wealthy crime lord and evil genius, was caught in an explosion set by his nemesis Cod Commando of S.P.O.R.K., scattering most of his body. His assistant Major Dr. Ghastly saved his brain and stomach, implanting them into Boskov, a Russian circus bear, giving Hector partial control over the bear. Together with military leader General Skarr, they established a secret lab on Bunny Island and resumed Hector's quest for world domination, also seeking his missing body parts. Their schemes typically fail due to internal conflicts: Skarr wants to overthrow Hector, Ghastly is distracted by unrequited love for her boss, Hector is narcissistic and abusive, and Boskov's bear instincts often interfere.
Production
A viewer poll called Big Pick, held online from June 16 to August 25, 2000, offered three short films to become series: The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones?, and Longhair and Doubledome. The Meet the Reaper short won with 57% of the vote. An Evil Con Carne pilot had been produced in 2000, shortly after the Billy & Mandy short. Cartoon Network combined the two ideas into a single show, Grim & Evil, which premiered on August 24, 2001 and went on hiatus on October 18, 2002. In 2003, 13 more half-hour episodes were made but aired after the network separated the series, giving each its own full-length series. After production wrapped, Maxwell Atoms chose to continue Billy & Mandy, ending Evil Con Carne in 2004. He found managing both shows difficult. After cancellation, characters appeared in minor roles in Billy & Mandy, and General Skarr became a recurring character. Characters were also set to appear in a KND special and appeared as costumes in a Camp Lazlo crossover.
Episodes
The episode order on Amazon Prime does not match the production order. The first six episodes in that list were originally shown as parts of Grim & Evil in the United States, except for "Max Courage!" and "Ultimate Evil," which debuted on the standalone Evil Con Carne. The final three episodes aired as part of Grim & Evil in the United Kingdom.
