Summary
Fifteen years in the future, a war rages between two dominant time-spaces: La'cryma, a possible future of Earth, and Shangri-La, which seeks to destroy all space and time. La'cryma's Dragon Cavalry searches for the Dragon Torc, the key to stopping Shangri-La. In the present, 12-year-old Haruka and her friend Yū Gotō encounter Karasu, a future version of Yū from the Dragon Cavalry. La'cryma believes Haruka is the Dragon Torque, but Karasu vows to protect her. The entity Noein, behind Shangri-La, also targets Haruka.
Characters
Haruka Kaminogi, the 12-year-old central protagonist, moved from Tokyo to Hakodate with her mother Asuka after her parents' divorce. Asuka Kaminogi is 38. Haruka's father Takuya Mayuzumi, 41, is a quantum physicist and co-founder of the Magic Circle Project. Yū Gotō, 12, is Haruka's classmate and best friend; his mother Miyuki forces him to attend cram school. Ai Hasebe, 12, is a tomboyish soccer expert with a crush on Isami. Isami Fujiwara, 12, lives with his older brother, younger sister, and grandmother after his parents' death; he teases Yū about being a mama's boy. Miho Mukai, 12, is a cheerful friend obsessed with the paranormal. Ryōko Uchida, 27, is a quantum researcher for the Magic Circle Project, with Kyōji Kōriyama, 39, as her driver and bodyguard. Yukie Nijou, 24, is the friends' teacher; Isami has a crush on her. Makoto Shinohara is also listed.
Distribution
In the United States, Sci Fi aired Noein as part of its Ani-Monday block starting June 18, 2007. Australia's ABC2 broadcast it from August 21, 2007 to January 29, 2008. TV5 in the Philippines began on November 10, 2008. Rai 4 in Italy started free-to-air broadcasts on September 30, 2012.
