Lore & Background
The Central Cathedral is the primary setting for the climax of the Alicization arc. Kirito and Eugeo first enroll in the Swordsman Academy in North Centoria, and months later, after cutting down the Gigas Cedar, they break the Taboo Index by killing abductors to prevent a rape. The two trek their way up the tower, defeating several Integrity Knights along the way: Deusolbert (the knight who took Alice away), Linel and Fizel (the two youngest Integrity Knights), and Fanatio. After defeating Fanatio, Kirito and Eugeo are separated from Alice. After a long battle with Quinella, Eugeo dies in Kirito's arms. Quinella attempts to escape to the real world by summoning a console that can contact Rath, but she is defeated by Kirito alone; Chudelkin is killed by Quinella herself during the battle.
