Background
The Gems are collecting old weapons at the Strawberry Battlefield, where Rose led a battle against Homeworld over 5,000 years earlier with Pearl beside her, when Lion turns up carrying the scabbard of Rose's sword. Pearl brings Steven to a secret armoury she thought only she and Rose knew, only to learn Steven has already been there with Lion. Steven then pulls the sword itself out of Lion's mane, and Pearl, hurt that Rose kept Lion a secret from her, runs off to the battlefield. Steven follows her across floating islands; there Pearl replays her old promise to fight beside Rose, Steven tells her she is great, and the two ride home on Lion with Rose's battle flag.
