Alpha Centauri is a three-star system in Centaurus: Rigil Kentaurus, Toliman and Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Sun at 4.25 light-years. The pair A and B look like one star of magnitude -0.27, the third-brightest in the night sky.
A and B are Sun-like stars that orbit each other every 79 years.
