Synopsis

Lord Ha-baek, the god of the Land of Water, visits Earth to retrieve sacred stones needed to claim the throne of the Divine Realm. He seeks help from neuropsychiatrist So-ah, the last descendant of a family fated to serve him. She mistakes him for a mentally ill patient and initially resists, but after meeting other divine beings, she decides to aid his quest.

Cast

Shin Se-kyung plays Yoon So-ah, a neuropsychiatrist with her own practice who is struggling with debt. She has a tormented past, believing she was abandoned by her father as a teenager, which led to a suicide attempt by jumping into the Han River. Though saved, she developed hydrophobia, especially for cold water. She meets Ha-baek upon his arrival and falls in love with him while helping him adjust to the human world and retrieve the sacred stones, unaware that she is destined to be his bride. Nam Joo-hyuk portrays Ha-baek, the god of the Land of Water and rightful heir to the throne of the Realm of the Gods. He comes to modern-day Seoul to obtain the sacred stones and, after temporarily losing his powers, seeks So-ah's help as the last descendant of the family destined to serve him. He falls for her but struggles with his feelings due to his impending return to the Water Kingdom, and his love is criticized because he previously loved a human woman whose betrayal ended their relationship tragically. Lim Ju-hwan plays Shin Hoo-ye, a demi-god disguised as a resort CEO and Ha-baek's main rival. Born to a human mother and a god father, he was abandoned as a child and seen as a disgrace, cursed with an endless mortal life on earth and deathly powers. He eventually forms a friendship with So-ah and falls in love with her. Jung Soo-jung plays Moo-ra, the goddess of the Land of Water who has lived among humans for hundreds of years as a well-known actress. She initially has an unrequited love for Ha-baek and despises So-ah, but later develops feelings for Bi-ryeom. Gong Myung plays Bi-ryum, the god of the Land of the Sky and a familiar face from So-ah's past. He hates Hu-ye because Hu-ye was responsible for the murder of a close friend when Bi-ryum was a child. He initially has an unrequited love for Mu-ra, which is reciprocated as the series progresses. Lee Geung-young appears as the high priest.
