Making and release

The PlayStation.Blog announced Killzone: Mercenary was built on the same engine as Killzone 3 and uses touch pad functionality.[4] The PlayStation.Blog stated the Trilogy would include all Killzone 2 and 3 multiplayer map packs free of charge.[5] In 2006, the PlayStation Portable received the title Killzone: Liberation.[6] The year 2009 saw the PlayStation 3 game Killzone 2 become available.[3]

PlayStation Vita owners could purchase Killzone: Mercenary starting in 2013.[7] A compilation called Killzone Trilogy, bundling Killzone, Killzone 2, and Killzone 3, launched in North America and Europe during October 2012.[8] Every downloadable content map for both Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 is part of that collection.[8][5]
