LittleBigPlanet
Play, Create, Share – the series' core elements.
Last updated
Most games in the series received positive critical reception, with the first PlayStation 3 entry earning a Metacritic score of 95/100.[1] The "Play, Create, Share" slogan forms the foundation of how the LittleBigPlanet games operate.[2] In 2008, the initial LittleBigPlanet title appeared on PlayStation 3, and the franchise now includes six games playable on five different systems.[3]

Making and release
The first game was developed by Media Molecule under the name The Next Big Thing and released on PlayStation 3 in 2008.[4] Tarsier Studios, Fireproof Games and Supermassive Games contributed downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 games.[5] A PlayStation Portable version, developed by SCE Studio Cambridge with Media Molecule, released in 2009 as a new entry rather than a port.[4] Media Molecule developed LittleBigPlanet 2 as a direct follow-up to the first game, and it was announced for a winter 2010 release before actually launching in January 2011.[6][7]
Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven created the PlayStation Vita version, which came out in September 2012.[7] Sumo Digital handled development of LittleBigPlanet 3, which was unveiled at E3 2014 and hit stores on November 18, 2014 for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.[8][9] On 27 October 2022, a version of Sackboy: A Big Adventure for Windows was made available.[10] Sony Computer Entertainment is the publisher for every title in the franchise.[7]
What the cited sources add
The PlayStation Blog announced that Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves would be a standalone spin-off title using the PlayStation Move controller.[11] The same blog stated that the game would be included on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc and would be free for thousands of LittleBigPlanet supporters.[11] The PlayStation Blog described the LittleBigPlanet 2 demo as available on December 21, giving players a taste of the new Story Mode and CREATE mechanics.[11] Eric Levine's PlayStation Blog announcement stated that LittleBigPlanet 2 would provide tools for players to create completely new games such as top-down racers and multiplayer shooters.[12]
The same announcement noted that LittleBigPlanet 2 would be released later in 2010 for PS3.[12]
