Background
Seattle had won the NFC West with a 7–9 record, the first team with a losing record to reach the playoffs since the strike-shortened 1982 season, while the Saints arrived as the fifth seed at 11–5 and had beaten Seattle 34–19 in New Orleans during the regular season. The Seahawks led 24–20 at halftime and 34–30 late in the game. On second and 10 from their own 33 with 3:38 left, Seattle called a power run, 17 Power, for the first time that day, and Lynch carried it the length of the field. The name joins Lynch's nickname, Beast Mode, with the crowd's celebration, which registered as a magnitude 2.0 tremor on a seismometer near the stadium.
