Alien Breed 3: Descent

Alien Breed 3: Descent follows Alien Breed 2: Assault as the third part in the episodic remake trilogy of the Alien Breed series. The story picks up with Conrad still aboard the Leopold, where he confronts the Klein AI that has taken over MIA's body. After defeating Klein, MIA is freed from the AI but left without a physical form. She tells Conrad that the only way to permanently destroy Klein's AI is to use her brain core as an EMP device. As the damaged ship falls toward a frozen planet and eventually crashes, water floods the vessel. Conrad encounters an alien queen created by Klein, who boasts that it took him a hundred years to develop a controllable queen. Klein reveals he copied himself into the Leopold's AI system to achieve immortality and plans to abandon Conrad on the ship. Conrad fights the queen multiple times, eventually reaching Klein's mainframe lair for a final battle against both the queen and Klein. During the fight, the queen falls onto Klein's mainframe, destroying the technology that powers him. Conrad then uses MIA's EMP in a small control room to finish Klein. Afterward, Conrad tends to his shoulder wound; his fate is left ambiguous as a small pad drops, displaying Klein's eye logo, and his voice is heard speaking indistinctly.

In terms of gameplay, like its predecessors Evolution and Assault, this is a shooter set on a futuristic spacecraft. Each level tasks Conrad with objectives such as collecting key cards, restoring power, or clearing hazardous substances like halon gas or excess water. Completing these tasks leads to an elevator that serves as the level exit. Enemies include various aliens that attack in groups, and Conrad can also take damage from explosions, fires, electrical hazards, and enemy turrets. He can run and shoot in any direction, gathering weapons and items. Ammunition, items, and upgrades can be bought at computer terminals that also act as save points. The camera rotates manually in 45-degree increments. Data pads scattered throughout the game provide information on alien species and character backstories. A survival mode lets players fight waves of aliens for as long as possible, available in both single-player and co-op.

Reception for Alien Breed 3: Descent was "mixed or average" across all platforms, according to Metacritic.
