Lore & Background

In Saints Row (2006), the player character joins the 3rd Street Saints after being rescued by them during a shootout between three warring gangs. The gang is led by Julius Little, not the player character. The player's goal is to help the Saints take back the Saint's Row district and eventually take over the entire city. In Saints Row 2, set roughly five years later, the player character (now called 'the Boss') awakens from a coma to find the Saints have fallen from grace, and works to restore them to power as the gang's leader. By Saints Row: The Third, the Saints have become celebrities with a large cult following after selling their license to Ultor to produce merchandise.

Reader's Guide

In Saints Row (2006), the player creates a character who remains silent for most of the game and is referred to as 'Playa'. The player completes main and side missions related to each enemy faction, either solo or with fellow gang members. Troy Bradshaw is the primary lieutenant and the player's closest ally in this game, not Johnny Gat. The player does not become the leader of the Saints until Saints Row 2.
