Club Atlético River Plate is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The club currently plays in the Primera División, the top level of the Uruguayan football league system. This is not the same River Plate F.C. that won the Uruguayan league in the early 20th century.

Lore & Background
River Plate de Montevideo is the result of the merger of former clubs Olimpia and Capurro. It was founded on 11 May 1932. The club's home stadium, originally named Olimpia Park, was later renamed Estadio Saroldi in honor of goalkeeper Federico Omar Saroldi, who died after an injury suffered during a match against Central Español.

The club's training facilities are at Villa Colón Sports Complex, inaugurated in August 1999. The club's kit is similar to that of the earlier River Plate F.C., and its away kit (sky blue jersey, black shorts and socks) inspired the Uruguay national team's celeste jersey.
