Mercenary
A sword-wielding Survivor who stays alive by being untouchable.
The Mercenary is a playable character in the original Risk of Rain, unlocked by beating the game five times. He deals rapid damage while dodging threats, and several of his skills leave him invincible for a moment. His abilities are Laser Sword, Whirlwind, Blinding Assault and Eviscerate.
Background
Because his raw damage is fairly low, the Mercenary is played by chaining skills so that the time spent invincible covers the attacks of bosses and tough enemies. Eviscerate strikes the nearest enemy repeatedly and jumps to the next one whenever its target dies, which helps against crowds of weak foes such as Lemurians. Items that cut cooldowns suit him especially well.
