Item Stacking
Picking up duplicate items to amplify their effects.
In Risk of Rain 2, item stacking means collecting more copies of an item you already carry, and each copy is called a stack. Almost every item grows stronger as it stacks, equipment being the main exception. Which value grows differs from item to item: one may gain damage, another a higher chance to trigger.
Background
Not every item scales linearly. Most follow one of a few patterns, and the number shown in game does not always match the real effect for items that stack non-linearly.
