Later, he stages a diversion by sending his fleet to Jupiter while personally recruiting the Obsidians from Mars, despite facing fatal wounds to his ally Ragnar. These strategic lies and sacrifices ultimately allow Darrow to fracture the enemy's unity, dismantle Roque's Sword Armada by destroying Ganymede's shipyards, and position himself to strike at the heart of the Society on Luna.

The Cost of War and Personal Sacrifice

The death of Ragnar au Grimmus marks a turning point; after being fatally wounded by Aja while protecting Darrow during the Obsidian recruitment mission, he is euthanized by his friend, ending a tragic arc where his mother's betrayal was also exposed. Sevro, transformed into the warlord Ares, struggles with the morality of their cause, eventually hanging himself alongside Cassius in a moment of despair over the bloodshed, only to be cut down and forgiven by Sefi. In a chaotic battle within the Sovereign's bunker, Darrow fatally stabs Octavia while she begs for help against Adrius. As Adrius attempts to detonate the nuclear arsenal, killing millions on Luna, Darrow rips out his tongue to silence him and prevent further commands. With Lysander persuading the Ash Lord to attack the bomber ship Lilath, the Rising destroys the vessel, neutralizing the nuclear threat. This decisive action leads to the public execution of Adrius and the collapse of the old order.

Rebuilding Society and New Beginnings

In the aftermath of the battle for Luna, Virginia ascends as the new Sovereign, recognized by Darrow, Sevro, Cassius, Lysander, and the Senate.
