The Battle for Luna
The Rising's assault on the Society's capital, where Octavia fell and the Jackal's bombs went off.
The attack on Luna is the climax of Pierce Brown's Morning Star. The Rising's fleet attacks Luna, the capital of the Society, but Adrius anticipates it and marshals his own forces alongside those of the Sovereign Octavia and the Ash Lord. Cassius, released by Darrow, turns on the Rising, seemingly kills Sevro and takes Darrow and Virginia prisoner.

Darrow lies about an Obsidian invasion to draw the guards away from the Sovereign's bunker. Octavia sentences him to death before the whole system, but Cassius frees Darrow and Virginia; Darrow fatally stabs Octavia, wakes Sevro from a planned death-like stupor, and together Darrow, Virginia, Cassius and Sevro kill Aja au Grimmus. The dying Octavia warns them that Adrius has placed stolen nuclear bombs on Luna to blackmail her into making him Sovereign; Lilath detonates several, killing millions, until Darrow tears out Adrius's tongue and Lysander persuades the Ash Lord to attack Lilath's ship, which the Ash Lord and the Rising destroy.
Reader's Guide
In the aftermath, Virginia becomes Sovereign with the recognition of Lysander, Darrow, Sevro, Cassius and the Senate, the Rising captures Luna, Mars and Earth, and the Ash Lord's fleet retreats to Mercury and Venus. Adrius is publicly executed.
