History
The Long Beach Coast, also referred to as the Long Beach Regulators, are an independent baseball team that plays in the Pioneer League. They are based in Long Beach, California, and their home games are held at Blair Field. The team was created after the Long Beach City Council unanimously approved a professional baseball club for the city in July 2025, inspired by the Oakland Ballers’ recent success. Long Beach had previously hosted other minor league and independent teams, the most recent being the Long Beach Armada of the Golden Baseball League, which folded in 2012.
Later in 2025, rapper Warren G became part of the ownership group, and former MLB pitcher Troy Percival was hired as the manager for the first season. To encourage local involvement, the team’s owners held a fan vote in October 2025 to choose the official name. Residents could vote online or in person from six fan-submitted options. After an initial round, the choices were cut to Coast, Parrots, and Regulators, with a second round deciding the winner.
In January 2026, Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson announced the team would be officially called the Long Beach Coast, though the Regulators name would appear in select ballpark experiences, special events, storytelling, and limited merchandise. The Coast made their debut on May 19, 2026, beating the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds 10–6 at Bryant Field. Their first home game at Blair Field on June 2 drew a sold-out crowd of 3,108 and ended in a 13–4 win over the RedPocket Mobiles.
On July 7, 2026, Long Beach secured their first playoff spot with a 7–6 home win against Yuba-Sutter. They then tied the league record for first-half wins at 37 after an 8–2 road victory over the Modesto Roadsters on July 12, 2026, clinching the First Half Pennant.
