The Devil
The first victim of the Saint of Killers.
The Devil is the ruler of Hell in Preacher. In the comics he appears in the origin story of the Saint of Killers, where the dead gunfighter's hatred freezes Hell over and withstands the Devil's torture. The Devil forges the Saint's two Walker Colt revolvers by melting down the Angel of Death's sword in Hell's last burning fire.
Lore & Background
The revolvers kill anything they hit, never miss, never leave the Saint's possession and never run out of bullets. As the Saint sets out for Earth the Devil insults him, and the Saint guns him down as his first victim. The fate of Hell after his death is left unknown.
Reader's Guide
In the AMC television series the character is called Satan and is played by Jason Douglas in the third season. Marie L'Angelle negotiates with Satan to deliver Tulip to him, and Adolf Hitler later tells Jesse that Satan is dead.
