Steve Wijler
Dutch recurve archer and Olympic silver medalist.
Steve Wijler (born 19 September 1996) is a Dutch recurve archer. He took bronze in the men’s individual event at the 2017 World Archery Championships in Mexico City. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he and Gabriela Schloesser earned silver in the mixed team competition.
Wijler won gold in the men’s team event at the 2018 World Indoor Archery Championships in Yankton, and that same year claimed the men’s individual recurve gold at the European Archery Championships in Legnica. At the 2019 European Games in Minsk, he secured silver in both the individual and team recurve events.
In 2021, he took gold in the men’s team recurve at the European Championships in Antalya, and later that year added Olympic silver in the mixed team event. He also competed in the men’s individual and team events in Tokyo, and two months later participated in the 2021 World Archery Championships in Yankton. In 2022, he won the men’s recurve title at the Dutch National Indoor Championships.
Wijler represented the Netherlands at the 2023 European Games in Poland, competing in men’s individual, men’s team, and mixed team recurve. He also shot at the 2023 World Archery Championships in Berlin. At the 2024 European Archery Championships in Essen, he and Laura van der Winkel took bronze in the mixed team recurve. He competed for the Netherlands at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the men’s individual and men’s team events.
