Valencia began her international career with success at the 2011 Pan American Games, where she won two gold medals: one in the women's team event and one in the women's individual event. That same year, she earned a bronze medal at the 2011 World Archery Youth Championships in the recurve cadet women's individual category. She made her Olympic debut at London 2012 at age 17, losing in the 1/16 eliminations of the individual competition, while Mexico was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the women's team competition against Japan. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she advanced to the semi-finals, where she lost to German silver medalist Lisa Unruh, and then lost the bronze medal match against gold medalist from London 2012 Ki Bo-Bae, finishing in fourth place. In the team competition, Mexico was again eliminated in the quarter-finals. Valencia qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she won the bronze medal together with Luis Álvarez in the first ever mixed archery event in the Olympics.
