Vendetta is a Star Trek: The Next Generation tie-in novel by Peter David, published by Pocket Books in 1991. It became a New York Times best-seller, reaching number four on the Paperback Best Sellers list in late April 1991.
Plot
The story follows Delcara, a member of a race assimilated by the Borg, who has gone to great lengths to exact revenge. She controls a Planet Killer, later revealed to be the completed version of the one encountered by the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek episode "The Doomsday Machine." The Planet Killer is inhabited by the psychic impressions of its creators, who share Delcara's hatred of the Borg. Both Planet Killers are said to have originated from just outside the galactic barrier. The Borg, having assimilated a Ferengi ship, invade the Planet Killer, forcing Delcara to attempt reaching Warp 10 to reach the heart of Borg space before she dies from severe phaser wounds.
