Format

The Albanian format follows the American version. Two teams of aspiring chefs, equally divided between men and women, face tests involving cooking and table service at the restaurant Hell's Kitchen Albania, overseen and judged by chef Renato Mekolli. A central element of the program is the psychological pressure he applies to competitors; he frequently uses particularly offensive insults and epithets to criticize or scold them, to encourage more efficient work, or to expel them from the kitchen. Each season begins with competitors, again split by gender, presenting a dish to chef Renato to demonstrate their abilities. From the next episode onward, the first part of each episode features a challenge between the two teams; when fewer competitors remain, these challenges become individual. In the final stage, the colored jackets are replaced by the coveted black jackets. Winners of these challenges, which may also take place outside, receive a reward such as an entertaining or relaxing excursion. The losers remain at Hell's Kitchen or at an external location to perform a punishment involving very tiring and sometimes humiliating labor. The results of these tests do not affect the episode's final judgment. In the second part of the episode, contestants cook dishes for approximately sixty restaurant customers, half served by the blue team and half by the red team, while Renato checks their quality. Based on the work, Renato decides which team was worst, or may deem both teams losers. From either or both teams, Renato selects a chef who stood out positively; that chef must nominate two teammates, including themselves. Renato then chooses who will be eliminated. He may also disregard these nominations, eliminating competitors who were not nominated, even from the winning team, due to poor performance or inappropriate behavior. Competitors may be dismissed directly during the evening service, and on some occasions no one is eliminated. Chef Renato Mekolli runs the kitchen with two sous-chefs: in the first season, Bleri Dervshi and Eri Muhaj; in the second season, Albana Dulellari and Ani Alku; in the third season, Francesko Tuku and Visara Pirra.
