Background
Park Jin-young wrote and composed "I'll Be Back," a house track that lasts three minutes and thirty-four seconds. Its lyrics focus on a man who refuses to accept a breakup, convinced his former partner will come back. A music video teaser dropped on October 9, 2010, via 2PM's official site and YouTube, followed by the full video on October 11. The song later appeared on 2PM's second studio album Hands Up, released June 20, 2011. A Japanese version served as the B-side for their third Japanese single "Ultra Lover," out November 2, 2011.
Music video
The music video for "I'll Be Back" is directly inspired by the Terminator movies, borrowing the iconic catchphrase for its title. The choreography opens with Jun. K mimicking the T-800's death scene from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, raising a thumbs-up while singing the line. The members appear in metallic eye shadow and leather outfits, dancing in bright rooms. The main dance move is a shuffle called the running man, and the video concludes with a dance break featuring acrobatic flips and breakdancing set to mechanical sound effects.
