ELVEES Multicore
Russian series of 32-bit microprocessors with embedded DSP cores.
ELVEES Multicore (Russian: МУЛЬТИКОР) is a family of 32-bit microprocessors with integrated DSP cores, designed by the Russian company ELVEES. The processors use either a MIPS32 core (which ELVEES calls RISCore32, sometimes with a floating-point unit) or an ARM Cortex-A9 core. Certain models in the series are radiation-hardened for use in space.
The lineup includes numerous variants. The 1892VM1Ya is built on a CMOS process and comes in an HSBGA292 package. The 1892VM2Ya (MC-24) has two cores—a RISCore32 and an ELcore-24 DSP with SIMD architecture—fabricated in a 250 nm CMOS process with 18 million transistors, in an HSBGA292 package. The 1892VM3T (MC-12) also has two cores: a RISCore32 and an ELcore-14 DSP with SISD architecture, made in a 250 nm process with 18 million transistors, in a PQFP240 package.
The 1892VM4Ya (MC-0226G, МЦОС) contains three cores—a RISCore32 and two ELcore-26 DSPs with MIMD architecture—manufactured outside Russia in a 250 nm CMOS process, with 26 million transistors, in an HSBGA416 package, and includes two PCI controllers. The 1892VM5Ya (МС-0226, ЦПОС-02) is similar but with one PCI controller. The 1892VM7Ya (МС-0428) uses a 130 nm CMOS process, has 81 million transistors, an HSBGA765 package, and two SpaceWire ports.
The 1892VM8Ya (MC-24R) was first made by X-Fab Malaysia in a 250 nm process, then later by TSMC in a 40 nm process (with clock speed increased to 100 MHz), in an HSBGA416 package, with two SpaceWire ports and ECC memory support. The 1892VM10Ya (NVCom-02T) is built outside Russia in a 130 nm process, contains no foreign IP blocks, has 50 million transistors, an HSBGA400 package, and a 24-channel correlator for GPS and GLONASS. The 1892VM11Ya (NVCom-02) is made by Angstrem in a 65 nm process, in a BGA586 package, with the same correlator.
The 1892VM12AT (MCT-03P) is manufactured in Zelenograd in a 180 nm process, has no foreign IP blocks, a CQFP240 package, two SpaceWire ports, ECC memory support, radiation tolerance of at least 300 kRad, and operates from -60 to 85 °C. The 1892VM14Ya (MCom-02) is made by TSMC in a 40 nm process, in an HFCBGA1296 package, with two SpaceWire ports, hardware accelerators for H.264 and JPEG encoding, and a GPS/GLONASS correlator.

Lore & Background
The Multicore series encompasses a wide range of microcontrollers and system-on-chip devices designed for embedded, space, and industrial applications. The processors integrate a general-purpose RISC core (either ELVEES' own RISCore32 based on MIPS32, or an ARM Cortex-A9) with one or more DSP cores of varying architectures, such as the ELcore-24 (SIMD), ELcore-14 (SISD), or ELcore-26 (MIMD). Many models are manufactured in Russia at facilities in Zelenograd or by Mikron Group, while others are produced at foundries outside Russia, including X-Fab Malaysia, TSMC, and Angstrem. Several devices are explicitly radiation hardened, with tolerance levels up to 300 kRad and operating temperature ranges from -60 to 85 °C, and some incorporate triple redundancy for registers.
Reader's Guide
The ELVEES Multicore series represents a significant effort by a Russian developer to produce a diverse family of processors for both domestic and specialized markets. The inclusion of radiation-hardened models and support for interfaces such as SpaceWire, SpaceFibre, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, and CAN underscores their intended use in aerospace and defense systems. The series also includes processors with hardware accelerators for video encoding (H.264, HEVC, JPEG), FFT, Viterbi decoding, and GNSS signal correlation (GPS/GLONASS), targeting applications in smart cameras, robotics, data centers, and industrial automation. The 1892VM248 (RoboDeus) model, manufactured in a 16 nm process, is notably intended for data centers and robotic systems, featuring high-speed interfaces like 10 Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.1, HDMI, PCIe, and SATA. The series demonstrates a broad range of integration levels, from simple dual-core devices to complex multi-core SoCs with extensive peripheral sets.
