Regular season

Edinson Vólquez threw his first career no-hitter and the sixth in Marlins history on June 3, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 3–0 at Marlins Park. He threw 98 pitches, struck out 10, and walked two batters, both erased on double plays, facing the minimum. On June 14, Ichiro Suzuki singled for his 365th interleague hit, passing Derek Jeter for the all-time interleague hits lead. Suzuki became the oldest player to start a game in center field since at least 1900 on June 25, breaking Rickey Henderson's record. He singled twice on July 6 against the St. Louis Cardinals, bringing his hits total to 3,054 and surpassing Rod Carew as the all-time MLB hits leader among foreign-born players. The Marlins hosted the 2017 MLB All-Star Game; Giancarlo Stanton (fourth selection) and Marcell Ozuna (second) were named to the National League team. At the time, Stanton led the NL with 26 home runs and batted .277/.360/.572. A 22–10 win over the Texas Rangers on July 26 set a franchise record for most runs in a single game. On August 14, Stanton hit his 43rd home run versus Ty Blach, passing Gary Sheffield's 42 for the Marlins single-season home run record; he had homered in five consecutive games, another franchise mark. Over 35 games through August 15, Stanton produced 23 home runs, including six in a row, a span exceeded only by Sammy Sosa (1998) and Barry Bonds (2001). Suzuki set the Marlins single-season pinch-hit record with his 22nd on August 26. Stanton became the first player since Chris Davis in 2013 to reach 50 home runs in a season on August 27, and the sixth player in history to reach 50 before the end of August. On August 29, he hit his 18th home run of the month, tying Rudy York's August record from 1937. Stanton won the NL Player of the Month Award for August, leading the majors with 18 home runs, 37 RBI, 28 runs scored and a .899 slugging percentage.
