Regular season
The regular season was shortened to 60 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Opening Day on July 24. The Marlins began with a 5–2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, but the season was quickly disrupted by a COVID-19 outbreak that caused multiple postponements from July 27 through August 6. Despite the interruptions, the Marlins won five straight games from August 4 to August 6, including a doubleheader sweep of the Orioles on August 5. The team finished with a 31–29 record, improving their winning percentage from .352 to .517.
