In Their Own Story
The helicopter's rotors had faded into the Italian dusk, and the only sound now was the wind threading through the cypress trees. You crouched at the base of the outer wall, the stone cold and slick under your gloves, and counted the sentries on the courtyard below. Two on the east walkway. One at the gatehouse, smoking. The castle loomed above you, its windows dark except for a single amber glow on the upper floor. Somewhere in there was the officer you'd been sent to stop. You checked your magazine, felt the familiar weight of the bolt, and began to climb. The stone bit into your palms. Above, a shutter rattled in the wind, and for a moment you thought you'd been seen. You hadn't. You pressed forward into the shadow of the wall and disappeared into the dark.

Did You Know?
- The Castle mission is set in Italy, a theater that was notably more urban and architecturally varied than the Normandy or Pacific settings featured elsewhere in the Medal of Honor franchise.
- Medal of Honor: Allied Assault featured multiple national campaigns (US, British, French, and a Resistance campaign), and The Castle belongs to the US campaign's Italian sequence.
- The mission's castle setting creates a close-quarters combat environment that contrasts sharply with the open-field and hedgerow combat typical of the franchise's other levels.
- Allied Assault was developed by 20th Century Fox Games and released in 2002, a period when the franchise was at the height of its early-2000s popularity.
