Plot

The game is set in Aria, a world governed by Inersia, Goddess of Light, and Zerdantis, God of Darkness. Their powers were balanced, keeping the world at peace, until Zerdantis broke a promise and opened a dimension door to summon evil creatures and spirits into Aria. He then planned to kill Inersia, summoning creatures from hell such as Kerberos to attack the goddess temple. Outnumbered, Inersia created an Ark Sign containing all her power and summoned two heroes from the dimension door the devil had created. Using all her powers, she dissipated into thin air, but her death sealed the devil at the cost of the Ark Sign. As the memory of the devil faded, Aria split into four kingdoms: Superta, Kingdom of the Protector; Metadipos, Kingdom of Magic; Voncano, Kingdom of Mining; and Gatia, Kingdom of Trading. In Superta, two heirs compete for the throne: Izen, a talented young knight who purified darkened Superta from the devil's power, and Liberto, a member of Superta's noble family. Liberto, realizing he cannot overcome Izen's fame and support, decides to take the throne by force. He works with banned magic and seals Zerdantis' powers, causing domesticated animals to attack humans and unprecedented monsters to assault towns. The Superta Congress decides to give the throne to whichever heir destroys the monsters first. Izen's army goes south while Liberto's heads north, but Liberto changes course to attack the Temple of the Goddess in Superta. After conquering the temple, he finds the Ark Sign there.

Development

The game was first revealed in early 2006 as Orka Online, and closed beta testing began on July 15, 2006, in South Korea. In February 2008, G2G Entertainment confirmed they would host closed beta testing for Japan alongside Neowiz Games under the name Yuina Online: Adventure ORKA; that test ran from March 11 to March 14, 2008, but the game was later dropped after failing to gain popularity. On February 4, 2010, Uforia announced they would publish the game as Camon Hero for North America later that year. In March 2010, Uforia announced a closed beta from March 2 to March 5; CEO JK Kim said they were eager to open the game to players and look forward to their feedback. Uforia offered events during that test, including a leveling event where players reaching level 25 received a Private Store Guard Card (30 days), and a spelling and grammar contest where the top three submitters won Meso for launch. A second closed beta for Camon Hero ran from May 10 to May 12, 2010, with level rewards granting exclusive items not available at launch, a Card Book completion competition, and a Facebook promotion giving iPod Shuffles (or iPod Nanos if winners had a character in the game). On October 27, 2010, Redbana announced they would host the game worldwide as CardMon Hero after Uforia abandoned publishing. Closed beta sign-ups began later that year, with testing from November 10 to November 16, 2010, and a second phase from January 9, 2011, until open beta release.
