Making and release
The most recent expansion, Aion: Echoes of Eternity, was released on July 13, 2016.[2] A second official album, "AION – Annales of Atreia," was released on May 10, 2010.[3] The initial public reveal of Aion occurred during the E3 Expo held in May 2006.[4] On September 7, 2010, the first major expansion, Aion: Assault on Balaurea, became available in North America and Europe.[1]
A service called Truly Free, which imposed no restrictions, began on April 11, 2012.[2] Japan and Korea saw the release of the official soundtrack on October 21, 2008.[5] Across South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Japan, Aion brought in 40.6 billion won (equivalent to $32.7 million) during that fiscal quarter.[6]
What the cited sources add
Players earn Abyss Points for PvP participation, which can purchase high-end armor and weapons.[7] Combat that mixes player-versus-player and player-versus-environment elements is central to the game, with conflicts taking place in the Abyss and Balaurea zones.[8] Legions, which are the game's equivalent of guilds, are able to take control of fortresses found in those zones.[8] A Legion that holds a castle gets income from taxes, and members of that faction receive discounts from NPCs.[8]
The Abyss Rank system restricts how many players of high rank can exist on a single server.[7] A player's flight time starts at 60 seconds, but this can be extended through armor, titles, and wings that become available starting at level 10.[9]
