Game technology and special features

ArcheAge uses modern graphics effects such as tessellation and ambient occlusion, and includes a physics engine. The game employs player collision, so movement can be blocked by other players or NPCs. ArcheAge: Unchained was announced in August 2019 and launched on Steam and Glyph on October 15, 2019, with the same content and updates but a one-payment monetization model that made all players effectively Patrons; it later added its own subscription. Its marketplace offers only cosmetic items, and an Archepass similar to a battlepass was added, with a free path and a premium path for cosmetics. Unchained was a separate game with no character or item transfer from ArcheAge. In November 2023, ArcheAge Unchained merged with the base game, transferring all characters and items. The game client uses XIGNCODE3; previously it used Hackshield, then Easy Anti-Cheat, with plans to use GameGuard in the future.
