Prologue: Find the Beacon

Mass Effect's opening mission on the geth-attacked colony of Eden Prime.

Prologue: Find the Beacon is the opening mission of the first Mass Effect. Shepard leads the ground team dropped onto Eden Prime, an Alliance colony under attack by the geth, with orders to secure a Prothean beacon found by a science team so it can be taken to the Citadel for study. Jenkins is killed by geth drones, Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams joins the squad, and the turian Spectre Nihlus is shot by another turian, Saren Arterius. When Shepard reaches the beacon it activates and pulls a squad member towards it; Shepard throws them clear and wakes in the Normandy's med bay.
