Normandy SR-2
The Cerberus-built successor to the original Normandy.
The Normandy SR-2 is the starship of Commander Shepard from Mass Effect 2 onwards. It was built in secrecy by the paramilitary organisation Cerberus after the original Normandy SR-1 was destroyed, as a larger and more powerful successor and a base of operations for the newly resurrected Shepard.

Background
The SR-2 keeps the layout of the original but has five decks instead of three, with more crew comforts such as leather seats, a small kitchen and two observation decks, one with a bar and poker table. It has more living space, a research laboratory and a larger cargo bay. Jeff "Joker" Moreau remains its pilot, and the ship is integrated with the artificial intelligence EDI.
The destruction of the SR-1 early in Mass Effect 2 gave BioWare the freedom to review and amend the ship's design. Critics have praised the Normandy's visual and level design.
The SR-2 serves as transport, war room and base of operations for Shepard and the crew throughout Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. It is armed with Javelin disruptor torpedoes, point-defence lasers and the Thanix cannon, a Reaper-based weapon. Because of its greater mass it can no longer land on every planet, so shore parties use a shuttle.
