Defenders
Marvel's "non-team" of individualistic outsiders.
The Defenders are a Marvel Comics superhero group with a rotating membership, usually shown as a "non-team" of individualists following their own agendas who often face mystic and supernatural threats. The original group, led by Doctor Strange with the Hulk, Namor and the Silver Surfer, first appeared in Marvel Feature #1 (1971).

From 1972 to 1986 the line-up rotated, with Doctor Strange and the Hulk usually constant and regulars such as Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hellcat, Gargoyle, Beast and Luke Cage. Near the end of the run the title became The New Defenders, with none of the original members.
