Plot

When the High Table faces a rebellion, the international crime lord known as Hex kidnaps Winston and Charon from the New York Continental. A contract is placed for their recovery, and the High Table sends John Wick to secure their loyalty. In his prime, Wick tears through Hex’s network of underbosses and enforcers across New York and Switzerland, ultimately crushing Hex’s rule and restoring the High Table’s authority.

Development

The game originated from a casual discussion between developer Mike Bithell and his friend Ben Andac of Good Shepherd Entertainment after seeing an action film. Bithell proposed a turn-based tactical game, which he called 'John Wick chess', where the player makes new decisions as the situation changes. Andac later participated in discussions between Lionsgate Entertainment and Good Shepherd, where Lionsgate sought novel concepts for video games expanding the John Wick series.

Lionsgate wanted something beyond a typical licensed game, similar to how the first film was a novel twist on action movies. Andac recalled Bithell's concept, leading to discussions that gave Bithell the green light to start development in mid-2018. Bithell felt responsible with the licensed property, stating that a licensed game should push the medium forward. He reviewed the first two films and was given access to the script for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum before production.

Bithell discussed the films' direction with director Chad Stahelski during post-production and worked with stuntmen to develop animations. Stahelski contributed the fog of war concept to create tension with unknowns on each level.
