Characters
Kana Nakamachi is the main protagonist, a thirteen-year-old girl orphaned after her parents' death and then her grandmother's passing. When repo-men come for her grandmother's belongings, Kana mistakenly believes she is being repossessed and runs away, eventually finding lodging at the Fuhshin Gazette. She is soft-spoken, shy, easily frightened, and prone to overreaction and misinterpretation, but she is willing to prove herself and is a good cook. Saki Amano is the assistant chief of the Fuhshin Gazette despite being in elementary school. She is the only serious member of the group, frequently reprimanding the others for neglecting duties, yet she helps Kana and gives spontaneous rewards, often justifying her actions with the format 'We were (fill in the blank), anyway.' She sometimes acts like a polite child to befriend classmates and convince their parents to buy subscriptions. Yume Kitaoka is an energetic girl with a taste for sweet things, generally carefree and in a good mood. She attends a patisserie academy and often adds excessive sugar to her cooking. She and Yuuki Minami are a couple, and Yume is obsessed with doing everything with Yuuki, becoming severely disappointed when denied the opportunity.
