Characters

Riri Hitotsuyanagi became a Lily after Yuyu Shirai saved her from a Huge attack. Yuyu is a respected sophomore who fights alone, affected by the death of her partner Misuzu. Kaede Johan Nouvel is a first-year student and daughter of a Charm manufacturer chairman. Fumi Futagawa is a brilliant otaku obsessed with Lily. Tazusa Andō has a dark past of betrayal and distrusts others. Mai Thi Yoshimura from Vietnam dislikes strict training but is upbeat. Shenlin Kuo from Taipei is kind and stands up for her beliefs. Yujia Wang, of Chinese descent born in Iceland, is quiet and self-confident. Miriam Hildegard von Gropius from Germany is a friendly genius and game addict. Yuri Hitotsuyanagi is a mysterious girl who dies after fighting a Huge. Soraha Amano is an excellent Lily with high physical ability. Kusumi Egawa, called 'Child of God', lost trust due to a past incident. Shiori Rokkaku is the last surviving member of her clan and lost feeling in her left arm.

Production and release

The anime was announced on October 13, 2019, produced by Shaft and directed by Shouji Saeki with Hajime Ootani as chief director. Mieko Hosoi designed the characters, Akito Matsuda composed the music, and Saeki wrote all scripts. Kazuya Shiotsuki, Sayuri Sakimoto, and Kentarou Tokiwa were chief animation directors, joined by Akihisa Takano after episode 8. Raise A Suilen performed the opening theme 'Sacred world'. Multiple ending themes were performed by Hitotsuyanagi-tai, Hikaru Akao and Yūko Natsuyoshi, and Miku Itō. Originally scheduled for July 2020, it aired from October to December due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funimation licensed and streamed it, releasing an English dub on October 30, 2020. A spin-off mini-anime, Assault Lily Fruits, aired from July 20, 2021, to January 4, 2022, directed by Saeki with music by Matsuda.

Other media

A light novel, Assault Lily ~Hitotsuyanagi-tai, Shutsugeki Shimasu!~, was published by Micro Magazine. A second light novel, Assault Lily Arms, was published by Azone International in July 2017. A manga adaptation, Assault Lily League of Gardens -full bloom-, was serialized from July 8, 2020, to February 8, 2023. A spin-off manga, Assault Lily Last Bullet: Secret Garden Sweet Memoria, began serialization on June 30, 2022.
