Lore & Background

Sandover Village is the original home of Jak, Daxter, Keira, and Samos. In Jak II, it is referred to as Dead Town, the ruins of the village where Jak and Daxter steal Praxis' banner for the Underground.

In Their Own Story

The morning sun cast long shadows across the thatched roofs of Sandover Village. Jak stood at the edge of the dock, watching the waves lap against the wooden planks. Beside him, Daxter fidgeted, his orange fur bristling with impatience. 'Come on, Jak,' he urged, 'the day's wasting. We've got to get to the Misty Island before the old man wakes up.' Jak nodded, his gaze lingering on the village's familiar sights—the Precursor Stone glowing softly, the sage's hut, the sound of Samos's grumbling from across the square. He knew this place was safe, but the call of adventure was stronger. With a final look back, he turned and followed Daxter into the unknown.

Reader's Guide

The area is not directly explorable as a hub; it appears only in the mission to steal the banner. No enemies are specified in the source for this location.

Narrative Arc and Temporal Paradox

Sandover Village is the starting point of a complex temporal loop. Jak, originally born in Haven City, was taken from his father Damas as a child by Count Veger before being lost to an Underground movement led by a young Samos and Torn. To protect him, Young Samos transported Jak back in time to the Old World's Sandover Village, where he was raised until the events of the first game. Following the activation of a Rift Gate with Daxter, Keira, and Samos, they traveled forward to Haven City, only for Jak to be captured and subjected to two years of Dark Eco experimentation by Baron Praxis. Upon escaping, Jak discovers that Haven City was constructed atop the ruins of his childhood home. The narrative culminates in a revelation where the antagonist Kor is decapitated after disclosing that a young boy found earlier is actually Jak himself, creating a closed time loop where Young Samos and this child return to Sandover Village to restart the cycle.
