Lore & Background
Fire Canyon is the passage that Jak and Daxter must cross to reach Rock Village on their quest to find Gol Acheron, the Sage who might reverse Daxter's transformation. The canyon's intense heat necessitates a special heat shield for the A-GraV Zoomer, powered by Power Cells.
In Their Own Story
The canyon's heat shimmers, distorting the air above bubbling lava. Jak balances on a crumbling stone pillar, Daxter clinging to his shoulder. Below, a Lurker scout spots them and hurls a flaming spear. Jak leaps, grabbing a ledge as the pillar collapses into the molten river. The scout snarls, but a Precursor eco vent nearby pulses—Jak absorbs the blue energy, his speed surging. He dashes across the remaining platforms, leaving the Lurker behind as the canyon's roar swallows all sound.
Reader's Guide
To cross Fire Canyon, the player must collect enough Power Cells to fuel the Zoomer's heat shield. Once the shield is active, Jak can pilot the Zoomer through the canyon to reach Rock Village.
