Samos the Sage

He first appears in The Precursor Legacy as the Sage of green eco, as well as a rough fatherly figure to Jak and Daxter. He is deeply fascinated with the Precursors and has devoted his life to studying them. His appearance is often mocked by Daxter, most commonly the fact that he is green and that he wears a log in his hair. Samos can levitate, though he is only seen using it during The Precursor Legacy. In Jak II, it's revealed that Samos is from the future, along with Jak as Samos was responsible for taking him back into the past to protect him from the Metal Heads and became Jak's unofficial father. In Jak X, he was the only part of the crew that was not poisoned. He tried to forbid Keira from racing, but she eventually disobeys him, wanting to help save her friends.

In Their Own Story

The ancient Precursor Stone pulsed with a soft, green light on its pedestal as Samos adjusted his spectacles, the lenses catching the glow. He muttered under his breath about the carelessness of youth, his fingers tracing a crack in the stone's surface. 'Jak, Daxter, if you two had listened to me, we wouldn't be in this mess,' he grumbled, but the corners of his mouth twitched with a reluctant fondness. Outside, the wind carried the sharp, clean scent of green eco from the forest, and Samos knew that despite his complaints, the fate of the world rested on the shoulders of two unlikely heroes. He sighed, turning back to his notes, and whispered a prayer to the Precursors that his teachings would be enough—and that the boys wouldn't blow anything up before he could finish his tea.
