The Philippines men's national ice hockey team represents the Philippines in international ice hockey. Governed by the Federation of Ice Hockey League (FIHL), which became an IIHF member on May 20, 2016, the team has participated in the IIHF World Championship since 2023 and has competed in regional tournaments such as the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia and the Southeast Asian Games.
Background
Prior to 2008, no organized leagues existed, and an unofficial national team composed of players from selected clubs competed in regional tournaments. One such team, 'Manila Pilipinas,' finished as second runners-up in the Bauhinia Division of the HKAHC Invitational Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament in 2005. Starting in 2008, ice hockey gained traction, and the team returned to the HKAHC invitational in 2014, winning the Silver Plate Division and defeating Macau 10–0. The FIHL was established in February 2015, leading to more structured national team efforts.
The FIHL became an associate IIHF member on May 20, 2016, and joined the Philippine Olympic Committee in July 2016. The team's first official tournament was the 2017 Asian Winter Games, where they placed third in Division II after a 9–2 win over Macau. At the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, the team won the first ice hockey gold medal in the event's history, going undefeated with wins over Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia (via shootout), and Thailand, despite the suspension of captain Steven Füglister for the final match.
The Philippines hosted the Top Division of the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia in 2018, earning bronze, and improved to silver in 2019. They failed to defend their Southeast Asian Games title in 2019, settling for bronze. The team made its IIHF World Championship debut in 2023 in Division IV, sweeping all three games against Indonesia, hosts Mongolia, and Kuwait to earn promotion to Division III.
