The Lithuanian national ice hockey team represents Lithuania in international ice hockey and is overseen by the Lithuanian Ice Hockey Federation, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
Background
The team first competed in the World Championship in 1938, finishing 10th. From 1954 to 1991, Lithuania was part of the Soviet Union national ice hockey team.
After regaining independence, the team re-entered IIHF competition in 1993, initially playing in lower-tier pools such as Pool C and Pool D. The team has fluctuated between Division I and Division II, with notable promotions including first-place finishes in Division II Group B in 2002 and 2004, and in Division I Group B in 2018 and 2025. The 2020 and 2021 World Championships were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2026, the team competes in Division I Group A, having finished 5th in that group in 2026.
