The Liechtenstein men's national ice hockey team represents the principality in international competition. It is governed by the Liechtenstein Ice Hockey Federation, which became an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on 4 October 2001. The team does not appear in the IIHF World Ranking and has never taken part in an IIHF World Championship.
The federation first joined the IIHF in 2001, despite the fact that Liechtenstein has no ice rinks. The national team played its first match in 2003, a friendly against Luxembourg that ended in a 7–1 loss. Another friendly against the same opponent in 2007 also resulted in a defeat, 4–2.
The squad was successfully revived in the summer of 2021. In May 2022, Liechtenstein made its debut at the IIHF Development Cup in Füssen, Germany—a tournament for teams ineligible for IIHF World Championships. They recorded wins over Ireland (7–6), Portugal (3–0), Algeria (11–2), and Andorra (8–4), with their only loss coming against eventual champion Colombia (1–3), finishing second out of six teams.
Most players on the national team come from the principality’s sole adult club, EHC Vaduz-Schellenberg. Others play for the only youth club or are Liechtenstein citizens living abroad.
